Since settling on the West Coast, Helen Hall has enjoyed a busy career as teacher, performer and adjudicator. She has held positions as Vocal Accompanist and Piano Instructor at the University of Victoria, Piano Department Head at the Chilliwack Academy of Music, and Pianist for the Opera Studio at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
Helen holds a B. Mus. in Piano Performance from Acadia University and an M.A. in Musicology from the University of Victoria. Her teachers include Dr. Teresa Dybvig, Bruce Vogt, Damjana Bratuz, and Alfred Fischer . She has also pursued specialized studies in London, England with Louis Kentner (solo piano) and Isobel Flinn and Paul Hamburger (collaborative piano-vocal repertoire).
Helen has performed at the International Festival of the Art Song in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Opera East in Wolfville, NS and the Pacific Rim Summer Festival in Uclulet, BC. She was also co-founder of the Chilliwack Summer Musical Theatre Workshop and an instructor at Strings and Keys in Sundre, AB.
Currently Helen also teaches piano, music history, and piano literature at the Vancouver Community College, is the pianist for the Piccolo and Junior Vancouver Bach choirs and is active as an adjudicator in the Lower Mainland. Her students have won awards at both the local and provincial levels.
